Natural Remedies for Head Lice
Garlic is very
therapeutic in preventing infestation, use regularly in food preparation.
The following
oils can be used to kill off live head lice, rubbed into the scalp at three-day
intervals until hair is clear of infestation.
To prevent reinfestation the following treatment will
prove effective:-
1% - 3% lavender or tea tree oil mixed into mild
shampoo
20 – 60 drops of essential oil per 3.5 fl.oz of
shampoo (2-3 drops to 1 tsp of shampoo)
Leave on scalp for 10 minutes before rinsing, add
lavender oil to the final rinse water
To counteract lice eggs – make up a scalp rub with 1
tsp lavender oil or tea tree oil to 5tsp vodka and 3 fl.oz of water. Leave on for a minimum of 1 hour, preferably
overnight. Wash out and use a fine
toothcomb to remove any debris.
Repeat every three days. If alcohol irritates the skin, vegetable oil
can be substituted.
