Kitesurfing
Flying kites is originally a child's past time. However that does no stop the adults from continuing to enjoy them. Kites have become a past time for people of all ages. It was a matter of time that adults find a way to diversify the activity. With our unending quest for thrills and extreme sports, people are finding more ways to create something exciting by combining different ideas. Combining the propulsive power of the kite and a surfboard, you have kitesurfing.

Kitesurfing is a fairly new sport but it is gaining interest from thrill seekers. Everyday people are always finding something new to give them a break out of the routine of everyday living. It involves the use of power kites to pull a rider on the water with a small surfboard or kiteboard.

Something radical out of something simple

Flying kites is a passive safe game. However if you use for other purposes it can be exciting. The use of kites for propulsion originated from the Chinese. In the 1800's kite was used to propel ships and carts with the use of a 4 line control system. The main purpose in that time was to substitute kitepower for horsepower due to the horse tax.

In the 70's Kevlar and Spectra flying kites were made, making them more controllable and efficient with more kite traction. In the 80's kites were combined with now snow skis, roller skates, canoes ice skates and water skis.

The development of kitesurfing continued as better designs emerged. In November of 1984 the first inflatable design was patented. Since then, it has used by many companies to make their own products. In 1997 the "Wipika" kite design was developed and sold.

It had preformed inflatable tubes and the simple bridle system that helped in re-launching in the water. In 1997 kiteboards were developed and replaced the skis. By 1999 kitesurfing turned into a mainstream sport. The first competition took place in Maui in September of 1998. Schools teaching kitesurfing has also emerged.

Kitesurfing can be learned through kitesurfing schools. These schools provide courses and lessons to teach students all the skill they need for kitesurfing. This includes, flying, kite launching, landing, how to use the bar, including lines and safety devices. Eager students should take lessons from certified kite surfing instructors because the equipments can easily be misunderstood.

It may look easy from the shore but there are a number of considerations to think of such as kite set up, size and type. Students should also learn the proper way of operating and maintaining the power kite.

After the students have learned the techniques in kite flying they must now learn bodydragging. The power kite is flown and the students are dragged through the water. The method is pretty much similar to body surfing but with an upward lift instead of a being pulled forward. Kitesurfing gear can cost from $1000 to $3000. Apart from the standard equipment you may need to buy a life vest, gloves, booties, hood, wetsuit and different kites for varying conditions.

Kitesurfing can be dangerous so it is restricted to some locations for safety reasons. Fortunately there are sites wherein you can go kitesurfing. Just make sure that before you get in the water you have proper equipment and be sure to follow safety regulations.

How to Find the Cheapest Kitesurfing Kites

Kitesurfing is one craze that's swept the world in the recent years. Whether it is in a remote island in the Pacific, or in a coastal state in the UK, kitesurfing destinations have flourished. Of course, the best way to learn the sport is on some beautiful tropical island with the warm winds blowing against your face.

While it may be relatively cheap for some people, there are several expenses that you need to make, such as airfare, hotel accommodations and kitesurfing lessons. Although the school might provide for equipment rental, there are some who prefer having their own equipment, such as the kite. To minimize cost, it helps to know where and how to find the cheapest kites in the world.

There are different kinds of kites to suit the type of rider and the wind conditions. The most common types are the inflatable kites and foil kites. Other kite variations are actually improvements of these two types. In choosing the kite, you also need to know the number of lines, as there may be 2, 4 or 6 lines in a kite.

Each kite has its own advantages and disadvantages. Kites also come in different sizes and colors. There are also different shapes and designs such as rectangular and bow-type. These kites perform differently under different conditions such as weight of the rider and wind speed. That is why most seasoned riders have more than 1 kite, usually 3 to 5.

This explains why you need to know how you can spend less so you can buy more. Here are some tips.
Choose a kite from a known brand. This makes it more durable, thus giving you more mileage. Also, it is easier to sell a branded used kite, at a higher price.

Browse through the internet to find better deals and discounted prices. Other shops give discounts when you buy in bulk or packages.

Used or second hand kites are also a cheaper deal. The price range for most kites is $500-$1,500. If you purchase used ones, the price substantially drops.

Another way to save on the kite is to convert old surfboards into kiteboards. There are some establishments which provide that service.

To get the most out of your kite, you must also know how to take care of them. Sand and water are two main elements to watch out for. Make sure that you remove sand and water off the kite before packing them.

Lay the kite flat on the beach before pumping it up. This reduces bladder twists, which can cause the kite to deform. Also, pump it when you've reached the beach and not beforehand. Transporting a pumped up kite can damage your kite.

Lines must be knot-free. Knots weaken the line and may increase the chance of a line break. Bars must also be washed and checked regularly. When transporting your kite, use its bag.

It pays to know where to find the cheapest kitesurfing kites in the world. But always remember that the primary factor in choosing your equipment is not the price but safety. Choose cheap kites without sacrificing your safety or the safety of others.

In reality, there are no cheap kites. But you can find ways to increase the kite's mileage through proper care and maintenance.

Why You Should Try Fort Lauderdale Kitesurfing

If you're in the mood for an adventure, then Fort Lauderdale, Florida is the place to go. Here you can experience nature's best through activities like hiking, biking and horseback riding. Set on the Atlantic coast, it is the home to most water sports. Here you may do such activities as snorkeling, parasailing, jet skiing, kayaking and scuba diving. Aside from these sports, you may also do some Fort Lauderdale kitesurfing.

Kitesurfing may seem like a new sport to most of us, but it has been around for many years now. While the first kites used were rather simple and plain-looking, today's kites are both powerful and colorful, making the sport seem fun and exciting. Clearly it has gone a long way since its invention centuries ago. Back then it was called kitesailing, where canoes transporting goods and people were pulled by kites to make travel faster.

But why in Fort Lauderdale, you might ask. The answer is simple. Kitesurfing is among the most popular water sports in the area. Because it is popular, there are quite many kitesurfing schools and kitesurfing locations that you can choose from. This means more choices for you.

If there are many schools within an area, this also means that kitesurfing lessons are relatively cheaper. This is good news for everyone who might not have that much money to spare.

This also allows you to get the feel of the sport without having to spend money for the equipment. By taking these lessons, you are able to use the equipment provided by the school. This will help you in your choice of equipment in the future. Since there are different boards and kites to choose from, you are able to use some of them, giving you an idea of what equipment to buy.

Some of these schools sell equipment at discounted prices. Also, they may offer used equipment, so you have a less expensive alternative.

Remember though that not all schools or instructors are the same. Look for instructors who are certified by the Professional Air Sports Association or International Kiteboarding Association as well as the Florida Kiteboarding Association.

But what makes Fort Lauderdale different from other areas in Florida or other states? The wind and the weather are two reasons why. The place is warm and sunny all year round. Imagine having to ride with cold winds blowing against you.

Also, the winds are consistent but not overpowering. The steady winds help keep your kite up without dragging you too far. This allows you to practice on some stunts or moves that you want to do.
That is why older and more seasoned kitesurfers enjoy the place as well. Spectators also like the place because most locations have viewing decks where they can stay and watch.

Also, there are many kitesurfing locations for you to choose from. But before launching your kites, be sure to check if the location allows it. There are some spots which are considered as "on probation." These are usually crowded beaches or those which do not fit the standards set by law.

Make kitesurfing in Fort Lauderdale a new memorable experience. The best thing about the place is, if you don't feel like kitesurfing anymore, there are many other alternative activities that you can do.

Great Kitesurfing Videos

Kitesurfing is a spectacular sport. Riders and audiences alike enjoy watching the players as they ride and jump. But while kitesurfing videos continue to impress those who watch it, there are also some kitesurfing videos which show the dark side – the fall, break and accidents that sometimes happen along the way.

Kitesurfing is not as easy as it appears on video. Every ride requires hard work and determination. How he was able to perfect his move depends on the rider, and the amount and degree of training that he received.

There are two ways to train for the sport. One is by taking kitesurfing courses. Here you have limitless choices. If you live in some coastal area, or if there are large lagoons and lakes in your place, with winds blowing steadily against it, then you're in luck. Chances are, there's a kitesurfing school or spot in your area.

To know details of any school, you can check the location over the internet. You'll be surprised at the number of schools in your area. If you can't find one in your area, you can be on vacation in some tropical island, where kitesurfing schools also abound. This indicates how popular the sport has become not only in the US but in most parts of the world.

Another way of learning is through self-help. Because of its gaining popularity, more and more people are learning the sport on their own. While this method seems difficult, since there is no one to personally teach you, there are many sources of information that a budding rider can read. One of these is through instructional videos.

Like websites, there are tons of instructional videos available in the market today. Which video to buy would have to depend on you. Some DVDs give step by step instructions while others present the topic in a travelogue manner, to make it more interesting.

These are two sources of kitesurfing videos – internet and sports shops. Try keying in the word kitesurfing in your search engine, and you will find hundreds of websites dedicated to the sport the world over. As you browse through these sites, you will see the different features that they post.

Each of these websites contains videos of some sort – exhibitions, instructions, and on some instances, accidents. While these may encourage others to try the sport, there are some who find it discouraging. But I guess the purpose is not to discourage. It is only to make people aware of the dangers that this sport may bring, and that everyone must observe the safety rules that this sport entails.

As years passed, and as the popularity of the sport spread, producers and kitesurfers are releasing better, more dynamic and glossy videos. With new technology, video cameras take better, more precise shots. Worth mentioning is the editing aspect of these videos. Advances in technology allow better editing and dubbing. So aside from just the graphic parts of the video, music is sometimes included to make it more interesting.

There are many kitesurfing videos that you can watch. Whether wave riding or freestyle, there is one to inspire you and teach you as you learn this new sport. Here's a word of caution though.

Don't try to do freestyling or other more difficult stunts for the first time without the help of an expert.

Preventing Kitesurfing Accidents

Kitesurfing or Kiteboarding, as some people like to call it, is gaining popularity for being an extreme sport. This is because it involves a certain amount of danger. However, you can keep the chances of having a kitesurfing accident to a minimum simply by following these tips:

1) Get proper training – kitesurfing is not an activity where you can just "wing it". You need proper training in order for you to enjoy this activity. Actually, you need proper training in order to keep it safe for you and those who might be in your path. But where exactly do you get proper training?

Well, there might be a kitesurfing school near you, especially if you are in an area where the sport has many supporters. Such a school may be able to teach you the basics of the sport as well as give you some very valuable advice, which may just help you reduce the risk of a kitesurfing accident.

If you can't find a school near you, try to find someone who has experience in the sport. He or she might be able to teach you the ropes and give you some tips on the more important points of kiteboarding safety.

2) Get the right equipment – a huge part of kiteboarding relies on the type of equipment you get. This means that you should try and get the best equipment possible. Before going on a shopping spree, try and do some research on what sort of equipment you are really going to need.

Why is getting the right equipment so important? You should realize that skills are not enough to propel you over the water, if you don't have a board or a kite. That would be called swimming, not kitesurfing. Getting poor equipment can be very dangerous. You do not want your board collapsing or your kite ripping in the middle of a trick. This can become a very serious accident.

Actually, as the sport has gained popularity, it is also becoming safer for practitioners. Why? This is simply because technology has been developed specifically for the safety of the kitesurfer and for the increase in profits of various companies.

3) Choose the right location – kitesurfing is not a sport that you can just do anywhere. There are certain restrictions when it comes to the location. Some places, for example, ban kiteboarding from their shores. This is usually for safety reasons. If you want to engage in this activity, make sure that there is no heavy beach traffic. In other words, make sure that there are no people that you would likely hit.

If you are a beginner, make sure that you don't go daredevil and attempt winds that are beyond your skills. Make sure that you practice on tamer locations before you attempt to board in more challenging locales. Ideally, you should make sure that the area you surf in is free of any obstructions such as power lines, rocks, or beaches.

4) Check the weather – Always remember that you will be playing with a force of nature. Learn to respect it. If you do not have the skills necessary to handle the winds, or if the weather turns bad, you had better not risk it.

You should listen to forecasts so you won't find yourself in danger once you are in the water. Remember: the weather can change awfully fast.

Kitesurfing in Australia: Feel the Power of a Breeze

Winds represent an awesome force of nature that man has continually strived to harness for his use. Hence, we have windmills, sailboats, and other implements that utilize the power of the wind for man's use. Today, this power is also used for entertainment. The use can be observed in the recent popularity of kitesurfing in Australia.

Australia is a more commonly known for Koalas, Kangaroos, the Outback, the Sydney Opera House, and the Great Barrier Reef. The whole layout of the continent has a huge potential for diverse activities. Kitesurfing is one of those activities that take place in the water side of Australia.

Kitesurfing is a water sport where you basically strap yourself to a surfboard, launch a kite and hang on for dear life. It can be a bit dangerous to surfers and even to swimmers who get in the way. What you should understand is that kitesurfing involves attempting to control something that is usually uncontrollable. This means that danger is an inherent part of this activity. But with the right advice, you might just transform it into the best time you can ever have.

Taking up kitesurfing seriously will require you to invest your cash in equipment costing something between $1000 and $3000. This includes your standard board, kite and safety equipment such as a flotation device. You will obviously need to take some lessons if you want to engage in this activity safely.

During training, you will learn how to maneuver your kite in such a way that you will be able to use the wind to move in the direction you want. You will also learn about the different safety procedures that you should always keep in mind in order to avoid accidents while you are having fun.

The efforts of AKSA or the Australian Kite Surfing Association made kitesurfing increasingly popular in Australia. They hold various competitions to test the skill of kitesurfers, as well as promote the sport.

If you are planning to kitesurf in Australia, you might want to consult with AKSA for various spots which provide ideal conditions for kitesurfing in Australia. After all, it's not a sport that you can do just anywhere.

The Association also provides services related to the safety of the kitesurfer. They, for example, spread knowledge about the various guidelines that a practitioner of the sport should adhere to in order to stay safe. They also offer insurance policies, as well as safety gear.

If you intend to get the best out of your kitesurfing experience, you should make sure that you stay safe. You should also definitely make sure that you have the most fun by getting the right type of equipment and the right type of training. After all, you are dealing with a very unpredictable element of nature here.

All in all, kitesurfing is a truly extreme sport which offers the thrills of being propelled by air and the feel of the spray. It is also an activity which requires considerable skills and training. The bottom line is that if you want to enjoy this activity, you should make sure that you keep the danger factor to a minimum and the fun factor to a maximum.

Respect the power of the breeze and the surf and always remember everything you learn.

Kitesurfing Babes

Being a water extreme sport, kitesurfing can hardly avoid gathering the attention of people looking for babes in bikinis. However, there's more to the sport than just getting wet, if you pardon the pun. It is an activity that requires mental and physical prowess. It is about utilizing your skills and having fun at the same time.

If you are thinking about beach blonde babes in string bikinis, you might want to reconsider your reasons for engaging in the activity7. For one thing, most kitesurfing babes take the sport very seriously. If you are planning to take up the sport so you can meet the babes, you might just get the cold shoulder.

You should also consider the fact that babes engaged in kitesurfing are into the activity for the fun factor, not to show off their bodies. If you are looking for an experience to fulfill your fantasies, sorry but you will be disappointed.

Kitesurfing babes come from all ages. This shows you just how easy it is to adapt to the sport. However, it is not for casual dabbers. Most kitesurfing enthusiasts agree that there are two types of people: those who are hooked on kitesurfing and those who haven't tried it yet. There are women who discover the sport and fall in love with it at the age of 40 and above. It is, after all, an excellent way to keep in shape.

What does attract women to this sport? As said before, it is an excellent way to keep in shape. You actually need to use your whole body to control your movement. You also don't have to deal with the boredom caused by repetitive movements and boring music. Once you're on the board and being propelled by your kite, you'll be able to hang back and enjoy the experience.

This sport also attracts the so-called "adrenaline junkies". It is, after all, considered to be an extreme sport by many. The rush that one gets when engaging in this sport can be very addictive. It is all a matter of keeping the balance and staying in control while giving control to the wind.

Although the solitude provided by the sport can be quite calming, most women who engage in the sport usually do so with others. This is for various reasons, one of which is safety. You should remember that kitesurfing is an extreme sport. Engaging in this activity without supervision is, quite frankly, suicidal. This is why kitesurfer babes look out for each other.

When you participate in this sport, joining a group is also advisable if you want to improve your skills. After all, you can't expect to learn everything from the internet or through magazines. The right companions will be able to give you some pretty helpful tips on how to make your experience more enjoyable, or at least look cooler in the water.

Kitesurfing also offers women an equal footing with men. It doesn't matter in this sport what gender you are: all that matters is you, the wind, and the sea. The skills required to participate in this sport can be learned.

In fact, some people say that women actually have an advantage in this activity, simply because they have a lower center of gravity –a great advantage since balance is one of the skills needed to do well in kitesurfing.

Tips to Durban Kitesurfing

Kitesurfing is the newest thing to hit the extreme sports world. That is why more and more people around the world are getting into it. From the US to Europe to Australia, this sport has reached even the far countries of South Africa, where it is also among the fast-rising activities that both locals and tourists love. Among these locations in South Africa is Durban.

But why is it a big hit in Durban? For one, the people are generally sporty. You'll find many sports clubs and organizations in the area. There are two marathons that locals participate in annually, aside from the national teams for sports like rugby, soccer and cricket.

Secondly, kitesurfing is considered as both a water sport and extreme sport. Taken separately, these sports are well-loved in Durban. Aside from kitesurfing, other water sports like scuba diving, surfing and sea kayaking are also very popular. As for extreme sports, it is not unusual to see clubs or groups for some extreme sports like bungee jumping, skydiving and paragliding in the area. It is therefore not surprising for kitesurfing to be a big hit among the locals.

Lastly, the steady winds of the Durban beach make it the perfect kitesurfing spot, not to mention the scenic view of the beach and the beauty of its marine life.

So what would be the perfect way to enjoy kitesurfing in Durban? First, you need to take some kitesurfing lessons. The first part involves ground handling. After you've learned how to set-up, you will then learn how to launch and control the kite. But we're not talking of a diamond-shaped lightweight material made of thin paper here. Kites are high-powered and well-designed equipment that can lift and fly well even if the winds are not that strong. The last thing to work on is the landing.  A couple more lessons, and you're all set!

Taking a kitesurfing course does not cost that much. The real expense is in the purchase of equipment. The good thing though is that there are alternatives for you. One alternative is to consider rental of equipment. While this may seem costly, this is perfect if you are not decided on becoming a professional kitesurfer. Imagine all the money put to waste if you buy the equipment first before you realize that you don't like it after all.

Another way to cut the cost of the equipment is by buying used ones. With many kitesurfers around, it is common that you'll find shops selling used equipment. Also, some kitesurfing schools do sell these items.

Where shall we find these kitesurfing locations? The best source is the internet. Make a search on the many beach resorts where this sport is allowed. Most of these have training schools as well. But before you enroll in their course, make sure that it has the needed permit to operate a kitesurfing school in that area. Through the internet, you can also see pictures of the place, so you will have an idea what to expect.

Kitesurfing in Durban is the ultimate experience that you should do at least once in your lifetime. If you are a die-hard kitesurfing enthusiast or just an adventurous sports buff, and you have the finances for it, why not give it a try.

Kitesurfing Equipment: What You Really Need!

Kitesurfing is one of the newest additions in extreme sports. It is a sport where the kitesurfer uses the power of the wind to manipulate the kitesurfing system on or above the water, snow or land. However, the most popular type is kitesurfing on water.

There are 4 types of kitesurfing equipment. They are as follows:

KITE

It is any type of traction kite that is large enough to hold the weight of an average person. There are three major components that should be considered when choosing a kite. High performance which is defined by its capacity to facilitate up winding sailing and jumping above land, relaunchability which is the capacity of the kite to relaunch from water after it falls. And power control which is the capacity of the kite to provide the surfer with considerable degree manipulation.

There are several types of kites that have varying degrees of controllability, relaunchability and performance.

a) The inflatable kites are crescent-shaped and could relaunch on almost all conditions except when the wind is just about 6 or 7 knots per hour. There are two types of inflatable kites: the 2 line which has the main advantage of stability and convenience of use and the 4 line which has efficient power control and better performance. Most manufacturers of kites these days distribute 4 line inflatable instead of the 2 line ones.

b) Bow kites or flat inflatable kite is the more dominant choice of among kitesurfers starting from 2006 due to its advantages over other kites. For example, it could be fully de-powered. It could also provide larger wind range plus it offers fast relaunchability.

c) Framed Single Skin Kite is more like the one used for windsurfing and like windsurfing it takes awhile for the kitesurfer to learn how to efficiently control the skin kite. It has reliable relaunchability and could surpass all types of kites in terms of performance when the kitesurfers masters the controls.

d) Ram Air Foil Kites, unlike all other kites, has no definite shape since it has no rigid structures. It only takes its shape once it flies.

FLYING LINES

These are the lines that attach the kite to the kitesurfer. The flying lines must have a low stretch capacity and must be floatable.  The line strength should depend on your weight. For example, 2-line kites should have a minimum strength capacity of 2 ½ times of your weight.

The line length, on the other hand, is largely dependent on the wind condition and the size of the kite. The more common choices are anywhere from 20m to 40m. For overpowered kites shorter lines are more recommendable while underpowered kites should have longer lines.

KITE CONTROL DEVICES

The control devices provide the kitesurfer the maneuverability of the kite, the direction of the kite and the capacity to maximize the wind window. Here are the general kite control devices used in various types of kites:

a) Inflatable Control Devices and Depowering Systems
b) Foil Control Devices
c) Reel Bars
d) Safety Systems

BOARDS

There are two types of kitesurfing boards- the directional and bidirectional boards. Skim boards, wake boards, water skis and windsurfing boards can all be used.

However, it is highly recommendable for someone to use kitesurfing board for the simple reason that this type is made especially for the demands and needs of the sports.

How Kitesurfing Equipment Reviews can Help You

Kitesurfing is a sport that requires physical strength, guts, and mental preparation. However, it is also a sport where equipment can mean the difference between enjoying yourself or landing facedown in the water. Because of this, staying informed regarding reviews of Kitesurfing equipment is a must.

There are many types of equipment that the review can focus on. However, these are the three main types:

1) Kite – The kite you use for kiteboarding is way different from the ones that children fly. Kitesurfers use special Power kites. These kites are designed specifically to maximize the power of the wind and pull you along. Most critics review Powerkites based on their maneuverability and the power that they generate.

The kite is an essential piece of equipment as it is your main source of power. Choosing the right type of kite can affect your experience considerably. It can also affect your safety, as the type of kite will determine your ability to react in certain conditions.

2) Board – There are boards specially designed for use in kitesurfing. These are usually much smaller than your average surfboard and they have straps on them. Reviews on boards usually focus on the materials used, its weight, and the design. Many people might think that the board is just a flat piece of wood, but it is actually much more than that. Small variations in the design of the board actually determine the experience of the surfer.

There are some people who prefer to use classic surfboards with this activity. However, this reduces the number of tricks you can do. This is because one of the biggest thrills in kitesurfing is "jumping" which you cannot execute with a surfboard.

3) Safety equipment – Safety is a very important issue in what many people consider to be an "extreme" sport. And thus, the use of safety equipment is a necessity. Getting the right safety equipment requires you to read various reviews and these usually focus on the durability of the safety equipment as well as the price. Make sure that you get the best protection possible.

Safety equipment includes flotation devices, helmets, impact vests and signaling devices. Today, there are also emergency release devices which detach you from the kite in case the winds get too powerful and drag you out. Knowing all about these devices can be vital to a kitesurfer.

When you are reading a review of kitesurfing equipment, you might want to make sure that you can actually heed the advice of that review. How do you do this? Well, a good idea is to always check the source. On the internet today, this can be a bit difficult. This is because the anonymity provided by the internet can virtually enable anyone to declare him or herself an expert. You can do better with user or consumer reviews of various products. This is because such reviews do not rely on the opinion on one "expert" alone.

Reviews are also best if they are specific about what is good or bad about a piece of equipment. This will give you an idea of which things you can overlook and which things you cannot.

This will also allow you to judge just how much expertise a person reviewing the equipment has. All in all, learn how to think for yourself and you will be able to pick the best.

Before you buy any equipment, ask tips from your trainer or any kitesurfer you know on where and what items to buy. If there is no sports shop, then try visiting a local department store or warehouse.

The internet is also another venue to buy equipment. Browse through the many websites dedicated to kitesurfing. Most of them feature equipment for sale. Some sites even compare the different brands according to some criteria like price and features. Aside from this information, you may also learn tips on kitesurfing and other useful information related to the sport.

Those who have mastered this sport would advice starters to buy used equipment. Aside from the cheaper cost, there are many sources available. If you are enrolled in a kitesurfing school, you can ask your trainer or other older kitesurfers if they knew of any used equipment for sale. Some schools actually sell used equipment. Be sure to check the item for any defects.

You can also search for used equipment in the internet. There are many websites which feature used equipment for sale. The downside, though, is that you are unable to see the item personally before buying it. Also, there is added cost for shipment, so it may cost a bit more than when it is bought in a store.

What equipment do you need to buy? First, you need a kite. There are different kites available, such as inflatable kites and foil kites. There are pros and cons to each type of kite. It is best that you buy the kind which you have tried kitesurfing with.

Next is the board. Again, there are many different boards available and each type performs differently, so choose well. The board has footstraps which make it easier for you to attach and detach from it.

Other equipment includes helmets, life vest, harness, flying lines and control bar, among others. A wetsuit and some boots complete the get-up.

If you live in UK, there are many sources of kitesurfing equipment. But one word of advice though. Before purchasing any equipment, make sure that you really like the sport. Equipment can be quite expensive, so it is wise not to spend money on it if you have no intentions of pursuing the sport.

Perhaps you can test the waters first by enrolling in a kitesurfing school. If after a few lessons you still feel the same way, then that's when you buy the equipment.

Kitesurfing Gear – Things You Need to Know

Kitesurfing is the latest craze to hit the world of extreme sports. While the sport may seem new to most people, its roots can be traced back in 14th century China, where kites where used to drag canoes at sea. Through the years, the concept has evolved until it became what it is to us now – kitesurfing. And just as the sport has evolved, so too has the equipment.  If you are new to the sport, the first thing that you would then ask is – what kitesurfing gear do we need?

Enrolling in a kitesurfing school will tell you what gear you need. While learning on your own may be less expensive, things can better be understood when there is someone to teach you. Also, this is the chance for you to try on the equipment without having to buy them yet.

The first thing you'll need is some kitesurfing clothing. Most kitesurfers use wetsuits, as they protect the user from strong winds. This type of suit is most suitable during cold weather, as they keep the body warm. For warmer climates, shorter wet suits are used. Others use ordinary bathing suits and board shorts.

The key is to keep the clothes as thin as possible so that you wouldn't have a hard time putting other equipment like life vest and kite harness. More importantly, the clothes must protect the rider from the elements.

The kite is also another gear that you need. The kind of kite depends on the surfer's capacity. This may be of the inflatable type, or foil type. Inflatable kites have different aspect ratio fit for any type of kitesurfer. Lower aspect ratio means the kite is easier to fly.

Foil kites are generally used by seasoned kitesurfers, as they give more speed. The air pockets allow it to move faster. However, once it ends up in the water, it needs to be dried up before it can be launched again. That is why it is seldom used on water but only on snow.

Another gear is the kiteboard. This is generally smaller than a surfboard or windsurf board, but with the same form. It can be the directional type, which is more buoyant and goes in one direction. Or it can be the wakeboard type, which is bi-directional and may be of any width or length. The board has straps for easier attachment to the foot.

Attached to the kite are flying lines. The number of lines and their length may differ for every rider. At the other end of the flying lines is the control bar, which is held by the rider to control the kite. A kite harness worn by the rider is attached to the control bar.

Other equipments that provide safety are life vests and helmets.

There are many sources of kitesurfing gear. You can visit sports stores or websites. You may purchase not only new equipment but used ones as well. Whatever equipment you choose, the important thing is to inspect the equipment not only upon purchase but also before and after you use them.

Defective equipment is one reason why some accidents happen. Make sure that your gear is in good condition always. Lastly, observe all safety rules and code of conduct to avoid danger to others and to you as well.

Kitesurfing is an activity that relies on equipment to give you the enjoyment and safety you need. Do not take the tools of the trade for granted as they may be the only things keeping you from an accident.

3) Enjoy – whether you are taking the lessons or actually going on the water, never forget that you are on a holiday. The purpose of a kitesurfing holiday is to give you fun and relaxation, not add to your stress by pressuring you into learning a new activity. Try to have fun when you are learning how to kitesurf. Where Are The Best Kitesurfing Locations?

Perhaps you've seen kitesurfing exhibitions on TV, or saw some pictures of it in the internet, and found it to be very interesting. And like many others, you want to know where you can actually learn the sport. Luckily, there are more kitesurfing locations than you think. And because the rise of its popularity is phenomenal, their number is steadily increasing. So where are these places and how do you get there?

Basically any windy place with large open seas or bodies of water can be a kitesurfing location. That is why it is not confined to tropical places or coastal states. Beaches are not the only venues, as it may be done on large lakes and some rivers. As long as there are steady winds and a wide space with water, kitesurfing can be done.

Some websites contain a list of some of the best kitesurfing locations in the world. Aside from North and South America, there are several kitesurfing sites in Australia, New Zealand and Europe, and even in far countries in Asia and Africa.

Because the kitesurfing phenomenon is all over the world, there's a big chance that a kitesurfing school or club operates in your area, wherever that is. And if you move to another state or city, chances are you can still find a kitesurfing club that you can join in. This makes kitesurfing a great sport to get serious with, unlike other sports like skiing which you can only do in specific areas.

Another good thing about kitesurfing is that it can be done all year round, for some areas. So if its' the winter season in your place, which makes kitesurfing a bad idea, and decide to go on vacation in some sunny place, you can still enjoy the sport there. Also, riding in these places where the winds are not as cold as those in your place will make you enjoy the sport better. These resorts and vacation hotels provide kitesurfing lessons and equipment rental for the beginners.

But before you take on these courses, check first if the kitesurfing school has the needed permit to operate the same in that area. Be wary of schools which do not have this, as they might be having some safety problems which would then explain why they don't have it in the first place. Or it could be that the sport is banned in the area.

In choosing the location, be sure to find one with written guidelines and safety rules. Or if state law requires these operators to observe a certain code, see if these are complied with. Take note that there are some places where it may be banned or restricted, maybe because of some safety lapses or accidents in the past. So make sure to do your homework before taking the first flight out.

There are many kitesurfing locations around the world. So if you plan of taking kitesurfing lessons, take the course in some resort in Asia or South Africa, for example, where lessons are relatively cheaper. But be sure to observe all safety measures in doing so. Lastly and more importantly, enjoy it.

Kitesurfing is a fun, thrilling experience that you will never regret. So what are you waiting for? Find a location now and give kitesurfing a try!

Looking for Great Kitesurfing Magazines

Kitesurfing is an activity that requires more than physical prowess. Although it is a highly physical sport, a kitesurfer also requires mental skills in order to enjoy kitesurfing. This usually means learning all you can about the sport. If this is your objective, you might want to check out the various Kitesurfing magazines available today.

What sort of information marks a great magazine about kitesurfing? Well, it should obviously contain articles and such that would help readers improve their knowledge and performance in the sport. Mainly, these would include reviews of basic maneuvers for beginners and updates on new techniques for more advanced surfers.

Kitesurfing is also a sport that relies heavily on equipment. Choosing the right equipment can influence your experience just as much as knowing the right things to do. Because of this, a good magazine should be able to give you tips on which products to use.

Of course, we all know that magazines get most of their revenues from advertisements. This means you have to be careful about which pieces of advice you take into consideration. If you are looking for reliable equipment, you might want to cross-check reviews from different publications.

Another thing to look for in a decent kitesurfing or kiteboarding magazine is expertise. Check the sources of the articles to see if they are reliable. After all, you wouldn't want to follow advice about kitesurfing given out by someone who hasn't even been on a board.

The sport can also be a wee bit expensive. You can expect to pay at least one thousand dollars to get decent equipment. Because of this, you might want to get some tips on how to save your cash. A great magazine would be affiliated with various shops in order to help you get discounts.

Location is also a big issue when it comes to kitesurfing. After all, it is not a sport which you can engage in using your backyard pool. A great magazine should give you tips and advice on which locations are the best for kitesurfing. Great publications on the subject should also contain different schedules or calendars announcing events where the sport is featured. This can include competitions, demonstrations or even workshops.

Magazines should also help you locate different groups that may have the resources to help improve your skills and enjoy the sport a bit more while staying safe.

Being focused on the subject of kitesurfing can be a bit taxing on readership. Because of this, you shouldn't expect a truly good magazine to feature just kitesurfing. A good publication should give you some heads-up on other activities as well. After all, people are not defined as a whole by one activity, right?

You cannot expect to find all of these in one magazine. However, you can hope for one or two of these characteristics to manifest themselves in a publication. You should also not make the common mistake of learning the theory without the application. In other words, reading about kitesurfing does not make you an expert.

You need to actually engage in the activity in order to have a clear idea regarding what the magazine is talking about. The bottom line is that reading kitesurfing magazines will help you, but you still need to go out and surf.

Kitesurfing Packages and the Basic Gear

Flying kites is a great past time. It was just a matter of time before people started to modify it in new ways to make something new out of the innocent activity. Kitesurfing is an exciting sport and is one of the new sports that are steadily becoming important today.

The concept started out in France, became popular in America and then spread to Maui. Before long it has become a mainstream sport and attracted many participants. A lot of people are now getting into the sport. New gear may seem expensive to some but kite designs are continually being developed. Kitesurfing packages are now available online.

Kitesurfing gear requires several equipments other than the power kite. Enthusiasts are selling their old gear to replace it with new ones. However as a new student you must be acquainted with the different equipments first before buying anything. Kitesurfing gear can be easily misunderstood so it's important to know what you are buying.

Scanning for kitesurfing gear

Like always the internet provides a wide array of selection. You can buy kitesurfing packages online but make sure you are buying what you need. Power kites come in different types, sizes and designs. Any student must know the proper equipment for better performance and safety.

First and foremost you have the power kite. They have two major types: the leading edge inflatables and foil kites. Leading edge inflatables or LEI kites is made of ripstop nylon and inflatable plastic bladders. LEI kites have a more direct and quicker response to the rider's inputs which it makes it popular among kitesurfers.

They can easily be relaunched. A variation of the LEI is the bow kite made in 2005. Second generation bow kites have a higher performance. These kites are preferred over the classic LEI by riders today. They can be used by both beginners and experts.

Foil kites on the hand is composed of ripstop nylon with air pockets. They are more popularly used in land or snow. Foil kites can get easily soaked in the water because they are impossible to relaunch.

There are also other equipments needed for the rider. The flying lines attach the rider's control bar to the power kite. It is usually in 3 or 5 line configuration and is made of a very strong material to handle the load of the rider. The control bar is a solid metal that the rider uses to control the kite by pulling at the ends. The kite harness attaches the rider to the control bar.

The harness comes with a spreader bar that is attached to the rider. The kiteboard resembles a wakeboard and comes in different types. A wetsuit is worn to reduce loss of body heat. Safety devices such as the safety hook knife (to cut entangled kite lines), helmet, personal flotation device, impact vest, boarded leash and signaling devices.

You may also need A GPS to track your distance and speed. You may also need a kitesurfing buddy or friend to help you relaunch, retrieve the kite and assist in emergency.

The first you may have to pay attention to is the power kite. If you prefer to be in the water a second generation bow kite will be suitable. You can use foil kite in land and buy the other equipments.

Kitesurfing Safety Tips

Kitesurfing is a dangerous sport. A strong gust of wind can force the surfer to be lofted, carried off, dashed against the building, terrain, and water, resulting to injuries. Most fatalities are the result of being dragged out of control or being airborne and land or hit hard surfaces including sand.

To avoid any injuries and maximize safety, here are some things you should remember:

Gear up! You never know when accidents will happen. And when they do, make sure that you are fully protected while kitesurfing. Wear a helmet and impact vest. While these gears will not assure you that you can walk away (or swim away) from accidents unharmed, they will definitely reduce the risk of fatality and severe injuries.

Do not remove or disable factory-installed safety harnesses in your equipment. Helmets and vests have straps and quick-release systems to ensure that these gears will be fastened securely and will be used safely and properly all the time.

Ride with side-shore winds. Onshore winds and offshore winds can be dangerous as both push you either toward the sand or toward deep waters.

Do not ride in crowded areas. Collision on water can be as fatal as collision on land, more so at a considerable speed. Never attempt to kitesurf on places near boats, swimmers, surfers, or buildings, trees, rocks, or areas with permanent obstructions. In general, a minimum of 100 meters of safe distance from all obstructions should be observed.

Use appropriate kite for your experience level. As a rule, ride within your skill level. Overpowered riding is very dangerous. Do not ride on strong winds with too large kite. Also, use the kite on wind conditions and speed that are specified by the manufacturer.

Check the weather forecast. This goes to anyone regardless of the skill level. Knowing the wind speed and direction is critical to determine whether it is safe to kitesurf or not.

Pay attention to the changing weather condition. Aside from taking note of the weather forecast, be aware of the changing weather while you surf. Wind speed and direction should be monitored carefully. Watch out for the sudden gust of strong winds as it can throw you off balance and carry you off to places you don't plan to go.

Launch and land the kite with care. Most accidents happen on shore or when the rider is about to enter or leave the water. If the kite is on air, do not spend time on the shore. Once the kite is in the air, leave the beach right away. When coming in, land as fast as possible. Keep the kite low when on shore.

Never hit the water without a safety knife. Tangles often happen when the kite is hit by a wave or a sudden gust of wind. This is very dangerous since the rider cannot control the direction of the kite. Also, tangled lines can cause serious injuries and deep lacerations to the body, fingers, toes, and limbs.

Under no circumstance should the rider allow himself or any part of his body to be encircled by the lines. Cut immediately using the safety knife to escape being caught by the lines.

Finally, fatigue can cause danger to the kitesurfer. When you feel that you are getting tired riding, go back to the shore and take a rest.

Do not take chances. Kitesurfing should be fun but it should also be done safely. Seriously, never attempt to do anything stupid.

Kitesurfing Schools in Brazil – Finding the Right One

Kitesurfing is the most popular water and extreme sport at present. With the increasing popularity of kitesurfing is the increase in demand of kitesurfing schools. As a result, kitesurfing destinations like Brazil have more schools now than there were years ago. But how do you find the right kitesurfing school in Brazil?

Brazil boasts of 7,000 kilometers of beach. That's a long strip for all kitesurfers, not to mention the flat water lagoons and rivers that they can also use. These beaches are found in some of its major kitesurfing destinations such as Rio, Buzios, Paracuru, Ceara and Fortaleza. Here you can find beaches which cater to kitesurfing exclusively, and near these beaches are several kitesurfing schools that you can find.

Nearby cities, although undeveloped at present, show promise of becoming kitesurfing havens. This means that kitesurfing is not a fad but is sure to stay far longer than expected.

This goes without mentioning the good food, music and events that this place could offer. Accommodations are likewise great but affordable. Aside from that, airfare rates are said to have gone down these days, making it considerably cheaper to go there at this time. And who can forget the friendly and hospitable locals that welcome tourists well.

While others may suggest that you learn on your own, experienced kitesurfers will tell you the importance of enrolling in a kitesurfing school. The instructional videos and guides that you may have seen or purchased sometimes do not answer all your possible questions. To learn a skill, it is more effective to practice it or see it as demonstrated by an expert rather than reading the instructions from a manual.

In choosing the kitesurfing school, the first thing to consider is if the school is accredited by the Professional Air Sports Association. Instructors must likewise be licensed by the International Kiteboarding Organization. This would assure you that they had the proper training necessary to become an instructor.

Another factor to consider is the price. Some schools cost more than others, so you must understand why they charge more. It could be that they cater to a few students at a time, so instructors can focus more on each student. Or it could be that equipment rental is already included in that fee. While it may cost a few more bucks than others, you nonetheless get more value for your money.

Consider also if you want to take a group class, or hire a private instructor. Hiring an instructor one-on-one may be more expensive, but you get more out of the lessons, and so you learn faster.

You may look into the track record of the different schools to help you choose. These schools have internet websites that you can visit and check. You can even send questions through email. Once you decide on the school, you may even do bookings online.

Kitesurfing schools in Brazil are among the best ones to learn from. But they can only do so much as to train you. If you want to be good at the sport, you need to practice on your own.

Any successful professional kitesurfer will tell you that hard work and determination are some qualities that you must have. More importantly, you must love the sport and enjoy it always.

Mastering Various Kitesurfing Techniques

Sky's the limit when it comes to kitesurfing. With knowledge on the fundamental steps and techniques, it would be easy for the kitesurfer to modify the basics and suit them to his style. Here are the essential things that one should learn, from here on try to make your own styles.

If you are novice in kitesurfing, it is advisable that you get a trainer's kite first before moving into different types of kites. This would give you the feel of the kite and since it is equipped with basic controls, you could readily practice with the basic directions, the functions of the control bars and the control of the wind and the flight of the kite.

Mastering the use of the dead-man release system- If you are just starting with kitesurfing you should first master the techniques on using the dead-man release system. This technique along with other procedures that are directly associated with it should help maintain your safety. To learn more of this release system, you should try to study the manufacturer's manual.

Kite Control Devices - The control system should be carefully studied first without deploying the kite. You should be able to control the device using your left or right hand alone.

Launching - All types of kites have various capacities for launching and relaunching. Launching basically begins with putting the kite on the direction of the wind and the board on the sand. The same is true with land or snow kitesurfing. The board should be on the ground while the vertical kite with its leading side should face the wind. The push of the wind shall give the kite its speed.

Piloting - Piloting requires the mastery of the kite system, the power and the limitations of the kite and everything that is related to the use of the kite since it will help you to maneuver easily once it is launched.

Piloting involves the mastery of movements such as turning to the right or the left, practicing with number 8 figures for several times to the left and the right, and hovering and lying on both sides. Do these techniques until you are comfortable performing them without looking at your kite or the kite's manual. Once you are over this, you should be able to practice tricks only by feeling the kite.

For starters, it is advisable to practice with the trainer's kite on piloting during light wind as this speed would give you better control and lesser chances of piloting errors.

Maintaining the Surf - Once you launched the kite, you should be able to maintain its stability. To do these you need knowledge on the power of the wind, steering the kite board and maintaining your balance on the board.

Kite Power Controlling – This entails the command on the power used by the kite to maintain, increase or lessen its speed. There are two types of power controlling: the projected surface controlling which is normally used among traditional kites and the speed controlling. The former use techniques like tilting, sheeting and reefing. The latter is parallel to controlling the kite itself. It involves the principle of increasing or decreasing the speed of the kite.

Apart from these basic skills, there are more advanced techniques that should follow after mastering them. The advanced skills include jibing, jumping, looping, wave riding, different kinds of rides and performing tricks.

Kitesurfing Videos: Share the Wind

Technology has definitely changed the way we do a lot of things. It has changed the way we work, the way we communicate- heck, it has even changed the way we play with kites. Today, you can find all sorts of media which revolve around kitesurfing. You will see kitesurfing magazines, kitesurfing videos, and others.

Kitesurfing is an activity where you use a kite to propel yourself on the waves with a board. Kitesurfing has gained popularity in the recent years because of its status as an extreme sport. That is, adrenaline junkies and people who want to live their lives to the fullest are quite attracted to the perks offered by this sport.

However, its growing popularity can also be attributed to the technology of the internet and the fact that kitesurfing videos just look so cool!

There are different types of kitesurfing videos. The most common type you can locate in video sites such as YouTube or Metcafe are the ones that feature exhibitions by a kitesurfer. These videos are usually posted simply to impress friends or relatives. Having a video of you flipping on the water, hanging on to the kite for life and limb, and generally having the time of your life can certainly add to your "coolness".

There are also those types of kitesurfing videos made in order to attract people to the sport. These usually focus on the various positive aspects of kitesurfing. They show you just how much you can get when you engage in the activity.

These videos usually feature exotic locations, cool stunts, and basically the best that kitesurfing can offer. These videos may also target the youth in an attempt to get them engaged in this activity and stay away from drugs and other negative influences.

A kitesurfing video may also be filmed in order to promote a certain school. As you may know, this sport requires a bit of training. Training lowers the risk of the sport considerably. These videos may attempt to promote the sport as well as direct you to a nearby school where you can learn how to kitesurf.

Then there are videos that attempt to teach you the basics of kitesurfing. The effectiveness of these videos varies. Some videos can actually be pretty helpful, considering the fact that one actually learns the sport by watching others. However, you might want to practice a bit before trying out moves you've learned through a video.

Some people enjoy watching the sport. There are certain kitesurfing videos which cover competitions. These videos often have some sort of commentary to help the viewer understand exactly what is going on. Of course, kitesurfing competitions are better viewed live, like in any other sport. However, if you want to relive certain moments in a contest, then this is the type of video for you.

The bottom line is that no matter what type of video you pick, you will be sure to enjoy it. However, if you truly want to get the most out of kitesurfing, you might want to go beyond the visual and actually try the sport.

This will help you understand the whole culture behind it more than videos will. Actually, some people might say trying out the sport will give you more entertainment value than videos will.

Vietnam – The New Kitesurfing Destination

Imagine warm sunny beaches, steady winds and scenic view, coupled with low fare and accommodation rates, and look what you got – kitesurfing in Vietnam. It is hard to reconcile how a quiet, exotic place like it could become the home for the more adventurous, thrill-seeking kitesurfers.

Kitesurfing, as they say, is not for the weak-hearted. That is why it is considered as an extreme sport for most people. Kitesurfers would swear by the adrenalin-pumping rush that they feel as they freestyle their way across the beach. Such excitement is felt by spectators as well.

But why they should choose Vietnam, you may ask. For one, the place is perfect for the sport. Mui Ne is the place where most kitesurfing activity takes place. It is an 18-kilometer strip of white sand, palm trees and nice resorts. Winds average between 18-30 knots, which is great for kitesurfing. There is also internet access, so you can keep in touch with people back home.

If you don't feel like kitesurfing anymore, there are other water activities that you can do. You can do windsurfing and kayaking as well. Some resorts offer other activities such as sight seeing, mountain safari and golf.

Secondly, there are many kitesurfing schools in the area. But because there are many of them, unlicensed schools also abound. Make sure to check if the school is licensed, and if their instructors are certified by the International Kiteboarding Organization.

You can choose between a beginner course and intermediate course. For the beginners, they are taught of the different conditions such as the wind, water and beach. They are also taught of kite set up and handling; kite control, launching and landing; and, more importantly, safety and self-rescue information.

Payment for the courses is often inclusive of equipment rentals. This means that you need not have your own equipment to learn the sport. This is good news to beginners who are still testing the waters, so to speak. The prices of new equipment can be quite expensive, so it is best not to purchase equipment yet. And even if you insist on buying, the price is not that costly. They sometimes sell used equipment, at a fraction of the cost for new ones.

Another reason why Vietnam is popular is because of the prices. The prices are relatively low compared to kitesurfing lessons in some exotic island in the Pacific or in South Africa. They have great kite-surf packages, perfect for the tourist who likes to learn kitesurfing on the side.

Lastly, the place is not that crowded yet. Many are yet to discover how beautiful the beaches of Vietnam are. But this shall not be for so long. Kitesurfing activities in the island are slowly picking up, and the number of tourists is increasing every year. In fact, some resorts are undergoing expansion plans.

These are some reasons, and more. With the friendly people in the area, you are sure to enjoy your stay. Kitesurfing in Vietnam is a great way to relax and unwind. You need not be an expert kitesurfer to enjoy the sport.

Even as spectators you can appreciate the freestyle moves and techniques that other more seasoned kitesurfers do. So what are you waiting for? Take this much-needed vacation now. Mui Ne beach is waiting for you.

Mauritius kitesurfing – Your Dream Vacation

More extreme sports enthusiasts are bitten by the kitesurfing bug. And who wouldn't be. The excitement of controlling the kite and of dragging one's body above the waves, not to mention the jumps and turns that you can perform, are enough reasons to get hooked on it. There are many kitesurfing destinations all over the world. But if you are looking for the ultimate world-class vacation, then Mauritius kitesurfing is the one for you.

Kitesurfers, at one time or another, have visited this beautiful subtropical island, either to learn the basics or to become an expert. Getting there is not a problem. Some flights are direct, while others stop over somewhere in the Middle East like Dubai.

There are many resorts and hotels that you can choose from. You can visit their websites to know the rates and amenities that they offer. Their price list is usually in euro. You can also see their photo gallery to give you an idea of what the place looks like.

Because kitesurfing can be dangerous, it is important that one learns the sport well before actually doing it. Kitesurfing schools are all over the place. Most instructors are IKO-certified. Several instructor training courses are offered in the island regularly, to ensure the competence of these instructors.

Some schools have lagoons where lessons are taught. Here you can do your stuff without harming other people. While accidents are not that many, there are quite a few fatalities reported. This explains the importance of safety rules and regulations. Regulating agencies provide for these rules which every kitesurfer must follow. This is to ensure that nobody is exposed to harm or danger.

Kitesurfing courses usually last for 5-6 hours. While you may not be expected to get on board after the first hour, often you can at least be able to launch your kite by the end of the session.

If you do not have your own equipment, equipment rental and sales are also available. Purchase of equipment can be quite expensive, though. But if you have intentions of really getting into it, then buying your own equipment may be a good investment.

Learning the sport on your own might not be a good idea. There are several things that you need to know about the sport in order for you to be able to sail safely. Unfortunately, there are some things that instructional videos and kits may not provide. Also, hiring a trainer shortens the learning time, which then would give you more time to actually be on board and practice.

Kitesurfing is not the only sport that you can do on the island. You may also do surfing, snorkeling, water skiing and diving.

The downside of it all is the price. Airfare and accommodations can be quite expensive. Because it is considered as a major tourist destination, the hotels and beaches can be quite crowded most especially during the peak season. That is why it is advisable to make early reservations or bookings.

Mauritius kitesurfing is one experience that you should try. So if you have plans to go on vacation, then why don't you consider Mauritius. Surf, sea, sand, and a bunch of other attractive tourists are enough reasons to go there. As summer approaches, it's time that you save up and take that dream vacation soon.

Kitesurfing in South Florida

When one speaks of kitesurfing, we imagine someone effortlessly riding the waves with a kite pulling him. While it may seem fun and simple, there's more to the sport than meets the eye. Kitesurfing can be a dangerous sport, if safety measures are not observed.

But kitesurfing is not as difficult or dangerous as it already is if you choose your location well. For those who are new to the sport, kitesurfing in South Florida is the way to go.

The concept of a kite pulling something like a boat has long been created in the 13th century. Back then it was called kitesailing. This was used as a means to transport goods and things by tying the kite to a canoe. The idea was to use the kite to make sailing faster. Centuries after, this has become a major sport and is now what we call as kitesurfing.

Kitesurfing as a sport is slowly gaining recognition in most states. Before choosing a kitesurfing school, check if it has passed certification from the appropriate agency. See also if it is a member or affiliate of kitesurfing associations. This will ensure you that the people in this school know what they're doing.

While you may learn on your own, others suggest that you take kitesurfing courses to learn. There are many schools in Miami, Fort Myers and Sarasota. Other cities have those as well. If you feel shy in taking group lessons, there are some establishments which offer private lessons.

Although you need to pay a higher fee for that, the good thing about it is you are able to learn at your own pace without feeling self-conscious. And you have the trainer all for yourself, so he can answer whatever training questions that you may have.

Like any extreme sport, there is the risk of harm if safety rules are not followed. For one, you must learn to launch and land well. For launching, experts say that it is safer to launch on the water. This makes the inflatable kite a better choice, although there are some who prefer foil kites. In landing, avoid crowded areas. Considering that you have no control over the wind, you must be able to anticipate the spot where it is safest to land.

Very strong winds are not recommended for the new rider. If your kite flies too fast, you will have difficulty in controlling it. This makes kitesurfing in South Florida ideal for both beginners and old riders, as the winds in that area are not too strong, although steady.

Another cause of accidents is equipment failure. Although this does not happen always, it is important to check your equipment before using them. After using them, it is also wise to check if there was no damage to it so you can replace whatever parts or items that need replacement. For those who buy used equipment, make sure to inspect the items well to make sure that there are no defects.

Kitesurfing in South Florida is a memorable, even life-changing, experience for some people. But before putting on your wet suits, make sure that you know what safety measures to take, what code of conduct to follow. Make the experience as enjoyable to others as it is to you. Ride safely!
